My Custom Degree is designed to give potential students a way to take control over earning their degree. My Custom Degree allows members to Search thousands of different degree programs from hundreds of top ranked colleges and universities while also maximizing their available transfer credits and finding tuition free courses that help fill in the course requirements to finish a degree. My Custom Degree achieves this by creating individually customized degree plans.
Degree plans are a roadmap of what course requirements are needed to complete a degree. My Custom Degree provides customized degree plans for each individual member showing them how their school of choice, maximized transfer credit, and available non-traditional credit can put them on a path to graduation in the cheapest, quickest, and most flexible way.
My Custom Degree realizes that the best way to save on the rising cost of an education is not to pay tuition except when absolutely necessary. A member can search our database for a school with a tuition rate that fits their budget. Then My Custom Degree can generate a degree plan that maximizes a member’s transfer credit and then identify what courses that are left to be taken can be achieved through non-traditional means such as credit-by-examination. The average cost savings per student using My Custom Degree’s method is $4,964.38 per student. Depending on the situation, it is entirely possible to complete a 4-year degree for around or less than $10,000!
What colleges and universities can be found using My Custom Degree through the Degree Search Tool?
My Custom Degree has thousands of degrees from hundreds of colleges and universities, many of which are ranked in the top 10%-20% universities according to US News & World and Forbes. Sign-up to Explore the different colleges available!
My Custom Degree has thousands of degrees within our degree search database ranging from business to psychology and many in between. There are degrees that rely on lab-based & practicum learning which do not populate within the degree search.
Anyone interested in searching the My Custom Degree database of schools and degree programs! Beyond that, the Explore plan can indicate potential transfer credit by inputting course equivalents. For example, you might remember you took that English Composition course in college. By selecting “College Course in Transfer: English Comp I” you can see that transfer credit applied towards a new degree that may interest you. We recommend anyone with greater than 45 semester hours upgrade to the Advocate and Counselor programs.
The Explore plan is meant to give an approximation of where your credits could potentially transfer. Because you select “College Courses in Transfer” and not the specific courses from specific schools, the transfer credits applied in the Explore plan just give an overall view of what could potentially transfer. This is why the Explore plan is best suited for those with less than 45 semester hours of educational history. A more complex educational history will need to be optimized by a counselor in order to maximize the amount of transfer credit possible.
Great! The next step is to upload your official or unofficial transcripts into your personal EDrive. From there a designated counselor will input your courses into a digital student record. Once this is completed you’ll get a notification indicating that the transfer is complete and you’ll be able to search through the degree search tool for programs that you’re interested in.
Both the Advocate and Counselor plans provide access to My Degree counselors. The main difference between the two is that the Advocate plan will input your education history into degree plans and send them back to you once completed while the Counselor plan will enable you to schedule a live session with that counselor so that they can explain how your degree plans were optimized and help identify other non-traditional means to fulfill degree plan requirements.
By utilizing the Advocate & Counselor plans you can have an education specialist fit your transfer credits into detailed degree plans. Of course, individual colleges and universities have the final say on which course will ultimately apply and to which degree requirements they can fill, but by having a My Custom Degree education specialist compile your education history into a degree plan you’ll be as close to ready-to-enroll as possible.
